A ZZZZ B 099560 - ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDIO 1 Programma dettagliato e risultati di apprendimento attesi Sustainable Architecture The Port wine is one of the most known and important Porto brands. In the Douro Valley there are 500 producers and 100 of them produce Port Wine. Since 2006, tourism growth in the city is approximately 25% per year. Our work will be about a region and not just about a specific site. For the exercise we will have two different areas, totally related with the Douro River (West/City + East/Landscape).
The city is still lacking a Port Wine Interpretation Centre and our proposal wants to solve that, creating in Porto riverine area a Structure and a new Public Space. The chosen plot is an urban void in the city of Porto, which actually needs to be filled. It is situated in the North bank of the Douro River and the adjacent area is mainly residential. Students, in addition to the close relationships with the existing built environment, should also take into consideration the other references: the opposite bank - its buildings and vegetation, the river and the bridges. The second area is one of the most dominant points of view of the Douro Valley and the idea is to generate a platform, an architectural installation to build a sort of poetic and artistic interpretation of Douro’s landscape. The solutions to be developed should be based upon and reflected in the different elements of the project (drawings, models and other forms of representation), articulating, at every step, the levels of information and content specific to each scale of representation.

Mainly the drawing scales will be 1/500 and 1/100, with some materiality studies on 1/20 and 1/10. Adopted it later as the closing phrase in all correspondence and bureaucratic documents. 20 The successor of Salazar. The project classes will be mostly practical, however, in a parallel way we will always seek a theoretical complement, with classes dedicated to design issues that seem relevant to the students work. Some of those classes will be more general and other more specific, following the works progress.
The works will be discussed regularly, based on sketches, drawings and models but also analyzing and understanding their concepts. We want to help the students to understand better what means their own essence - quite difficult but very important for their future. It will be crutial to have space to realize what they like and what they dislike, to better define their position and consequently their own path.
The architectural references, naturally, will be part of our teaching method but we want students to realize that there are lots of relevant and useful information in other artistic and creative areas that can be very enriching to the process and consequently to their works.Multicriteria Analysis and Project Appraisal Urban development projects involve the identification and comparison of different alternatives based on multiple objectives and criteria. The complexity of these kind of decisions call for an evaluation framework able to integrate information on effects and impacts of the design alternatives under investigation, with values and preferences of stakeholders. Multicriteria analysis (MCA) offers such a framework and it is increasingly used in combination with several evaluation techniques. Given these premises, the goal of the course Multicriteria Analysis and Project Appraisal is to provide students with theoretical principles and methodologies for projects sustainability (economic, social and environmental) evaluation.
